Progress: Mariners Ban Peanuts From Two Sections

July 26, 2008

Baby steps… a few more steps in changing the world have been taken.

The Seattle Mariners have dedicated two sections peanut free for a few games… hopefully this type of move spreads across the baseball and sporting world. The onslaught of kids with FA’s coming of age is going to force many changes… get ready.

Thank you Mariners!!!

Growing recognition of food allergies has restaurants cooking up new items to cater to concerned customers

Subway… if you are monitoring our blog… please take note and look at your food handling practices. These restaraunts are leading the charge!!!!

Way to go Bonefish Grill and One World Cafe!!!

Here’s the article:
Growing recognition of food allergies has restaurants cooking up new items to cater to concerned customers
Washington Business Journal – by Elizabeth Heubeck Contributing Writer
If your waiter at Bonefish Grill knows of your food allergies, the whole kitchen staff will know, with the push of a single button.

Built into a Bonefish Grill food register is a button that reads “food allergies,” which alerts the kitchen staff to prepare a meal for a patron with dietary restrictions.

All dishes are made from scratch, allowing chefs to eliminate or substitute individual ingredients. Kitchen and wait staff receive in-house training on food allergies.

Bonefish Grill — a national chain with 2007 sales of $406 million and locations in Gaithersburg, Alexandria, Ashburn and Centreville — takes food allergies seriously.

I really enjoy reading the stories from Pamela Drew’s blog… she brings a true perspective of what is happening to our food and more importantly our health. We have such a sick generation of children… and Why? Is anyone asking Why?

Check out this post from Pamela Drew.
